Bath Community Hospital is home to a full-service laboratory. The CLIA-certified, COLA-accredited laboratory employs the latest instrumentation and technology to provide services in the areas of hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, bacteriology and transfusion medicine.

Other divisions of testing include drugs of abuse screening and breath alcohol analysis. The well-trained, knowledgeable staff includes ASCP and NCA certified medical technologists and technicians, as well as an experienced laboratory assistant.

Under the direction of an experienced pathologist, the COLA-accredited Transfusion Service laboratory provides state-of-the-art blood transfusion support for BCH patients. Skilled technologists are available 24 hours a day to select and prepare leukoreduced red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma for transfusion. A partnership with the American Red Cross makes it possible to offer platelets, cryoprecipitate, and specially prepared blood components to meet the individual needs of patients.
