Bath Community Hospital provides rehabilitation services to people recovering from injury and illness in the hospital, in their homes and at Bath Rehab & Wellness, our new outpatient clinic and wellness center in Bacova.
Bath Community Rehab & Wellness includes a top-notch fitness center with cardiovascular and strength training equipment. A variety of fitness classes are available, as well as personal training.
Monthly and annual memberships are available to the public. A free health assessment and orientation to the equipment is included.

Physical Therapists
Cathy Singleton, PT
Cathy received her BS in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1968 and was instrumental in organizing the Physical Therapy Department at Bath Community Hospital in 1971. She primarily provides physical therapy with hospital-based medical patients and specializes in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.
Sheryl Lyle, BCH In-patient PT Department Manager and Home Health PT
Sheryl received her BS in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983. She has worked at Bath Community Hospital since the spring of 2003 and specializes in Home Health Physical Therapy.
Jonathan Eaton, PT, MPT, CEAS
Jonathan’s involvement in healthcare began while working with Division III athletes in the athletic training room in college. He went on to Old Dominion University earning his Master’s in Physical Therapy in 1999. Since that time, he has earned a certification as an Ergonomics Assessment Specialist. Jonathan is currently working on becoming a certified direct access provider. Jonathan’s practice interventions are grounded in the current best evidence for physical therapy evaluation and treatment techniques. His primary focus is using multiple manual therapy techniques for obtaining functional outcomes. Jonathan has been instrumental in developing the foot management program and fabrication of custom foot orthotics
Sharon Justice, BCR&W Department Manager
Sharon Justice received her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University in 1975and her doctoral degree in physical therapy from Boston University in 2006. For the past 11 years, Sharon has been the physical therapy department manager at Bath Community Rehab & Wellness. She brings to this position 33 years of experience from a wide variety of clinical settings including pediatrics, home health, inpatient rehabilitation and out patient ambulatory services. This diverse background has provided a framework for meeting the wide-ranging needs of a rural health care setting. In support of the Bath Community Hospital’s mission to provide community out reach programs, Sharon was involved in the conception and planning of the Bath Community Rehab & Wellness Center.
In response to a need to improve the health of the community, Sharon participates in health promotion activities such as the Bath County Triathlon Planning Committee, health fairs for businesses in the community, The School Health Advisory Committee, BCH health Advisory Committee, BCH speaker's bureau. Staying active in the Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA), Sharon is currently serving as VPTA Valley District Chair. Sharon enjoys hiking, recreational kayaking, snowshoeing and downhill skiing.
Steve Curtian, PT, MEd., SCSC
Steve is a graduate of the University of Maryland with BS in Physical Therapy. He received his Masters of Education in Strength and conditioning from the University of Virginia in 1989. While studying at UVA, Steve worked with NCAA student athletes from a variety of sports. He later went on to work with both the UVA and James Madison University Golf Teams while in private practice in Charlottesville, VA. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As an employee of the Bath Community Hospital Physical Therapy Department for the past the 6 years, Steve has been instrumental in staff training, development of student athlete training programs, and community wellness programs. He has served as a consultant in the planning of the Bath Community Rehab & Wellness Center. Steve continues to use his physical therapy expertise in evaluating and treating outpatients as well as wellness clients.
An avid road cylcist and strength trainer for many years, Steve continues to be a role model for staff and clients with his high level of fitness.
Tim Dunnagan, Exercise Technician
Tim is currently employed at the Bath Co. Sheriffs Office as an Investigator. He works at the Wellness Center part-time. He is currently certified in CPR. He helps clients use the equipment safely and effectively. Tim enjoys cycling and competes in 3 to 4 triathlons a year with the Triple Threat Triahlon team. On his days off, if he is not cycling or cruising on his motorcycle, he is up on the slopes skiing.
Debbie King, Exercise Technician, Support Staff
Debbie is an Exercise Tech at the Wellness Center, opening doors by 5:45am every morning. She makes sure that the gym is up and running smoothly before the first clients arrive at 6:00am. She enjoys helping new clients learn to use the equipment properly and encourages them as they continue to obtain good work out habits. Debbie also helps out with the daily office work. Some of the duties include scheduling, patients, ensuring that patient charts are pulled and in order for the next day, calling patients to remind them of their appointments, and checking with insurance companies concerning patient benefits for physical therapy. Debbie enjoys long walks and motorcycle riding with her husband. She is a licensed minister in her church and is active there in counseling and music.
Holly Hicks, Exercise Physiologist
Holly is a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University with BS in Exercise Physiology. She is an exercise technician who educates clients and patients the safe and effective way to use exercise equipment along with proper technique when performing free weight exercises. Holly also helps coordinate the fitness program for the Bath County High School students who participate in weight lifting and core stabilization classes at the facility. Holly is an avid sports fan. She enjoys playing recreational volleyball, softball and is a loyal WVU Mountaineer football fan. She is currently interested in obtaining a health fitness instructor certificate and plans on going back to school to complete her doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Physical Therapy Assistants
Jim Brown, PTA
Jim Brown received his BS in Biology in 1987 from Shepherd College in West Virginia and his Physical Therapy Assistant associate's degree in 1998 from the College of West Virginia, Beckley, West Virginia. Jim has been a member of the BCH physical therapy department since 2000. He finds his career as a PTA rewarding when he helps people recover from the injuries or illness, returning to a lifestyle at or above their previous level of performance. Jim is a triathlete and enjoys most outdoor activities such as swimming, bicycling, hiking and horseback riding. He is an avid gardener and enjoys reading in his spare time.
Massage Therapist
Debbie Sparks, CMT. NCBTMB
Debbie has worked at Bath Community Hospital for 29 years, as a nursing assistant and ward clerk. Debbie received her certificate in massage therapy from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in 2004. Debbie specializes in basic swedish massage therapy. She recently completed a course in Craniosacral Therapy which has added a myofascial dimension to her massage therapy. In her spare time she enjoys fishing, shopping and gardening.
Candice Ailstock, CSBT, Exercise Technician
Candace is an exercise technician.. As an exercise tech, she demonstrates the correct usage of weight machines, free weights, and other exercise techniques. She received her certification as a stability ball instructor through the American Fitness Professionals and Associates. Candice is currently teaching group strength and conditioning classes as well as helping with the off season student conditioning program. Behind the scenes in the office, Candice is busy helping with the day to day business of BCR&W.
Candice is the swimmer on the Triple Threat Triathlon team. She also enjoys hunting, boating, skiing and fishing.
Susan King, Exercise Technician, CFI
Suzee is currently majoring in Natural Health at Clayton College of Natural Health and wants to specialize in sports nutrition. In addition she is also working on her certification to become a Personal Trainer. She received her fitness certification through the American Fitness Professionals and Associates. As a certified fitness instructor, Suzee helps clients use the equipment safely and effectively and teaches group exercise classes. She loves working with clients to boost their confidence by teaching them exercise techniques and better nutrition. Suzee is the runner on the Triple Threat Triathlon Team, which competes in several events each year.
Millie Williams, Health Care Assistant, BCR&W Office Manager
In addition to keeping the office running smoothly for physical therapy, wellness clients and staff at BCR&W, Millie is a certified health care assistant. She assists physical therapists in the care and treatment of patients, monitors wellness clients for correct form and modifying workouts as needed. Millie and Candice work together in the planning and implementation of the senior citizen program. Millie enjoys working with patients of all skill levels and ages from senior citizens to children and empowers her clients to improve their quality of life. She enjoys seeing them succeed.
