Physical Therapists:

Steve Curtian, PT, MEd., SCSC - Director of Physical Therapy

He received his Masters of Education in Strength and conditioning from the University of Virginia in 1989. While studying at UVA, Steve worked with NCAA student athletes from a variety of sports. He later went on to work with both the UVA and James Madison University Golf Teams while in private practice in Charlottesville, VA. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As an employee of the Bath Community Hospital Physical Therapy Department for the past the 5 years, Steve has been instrumental in staff training, development of student athlete training programs, as well as the senior citizen’s group exercise program. He has served as a consultant in the planning of the Bath Community Rehab & Wellness Center and supervises the day-to-day operations of fitness/wellness center. Steve continues to use his physical therapy expertise in evaluating and treating outpatients as well as wellness clients.

Sharon Justice, PT, DPT

Sharon Justice received her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University in 1975 and her doctoral degree in physical therapy from Boston University in 2006.

For eleven year, Sharon was the physical therapy department manager at Bath Community Hospital. She brings to this position over 30 years of experience from a variety of clinical settings including pediatrics, home health, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient ambulatory services. This diverse background has provided a framework for meeting the wide-range of needs in the rural health care setting.

In response to a need to improve the health of the community, Sharon participates in health promotion activities such as the Bath County Triathlon planning committee, health fairs for businesses in the community, work place ergonomic consultation, women’s hiking and skiing workshops and as a volunteer in the adaptive skiing program for Challenged Athletes.

Jonathan Eaton, PT, MPT, CEAS

Jonathan’s involvement in healthcare began while working with Division III athletes in the athletic training room in college. He went on to Old Dominion University earning his Master’s in Physical Therapy in 1999. Since that time, he has earned a certification as an Ergonomics Assessment Specialist and is a certified direct access provide. He is currently working on a certification in Functional Orthopedics. Jonathan’s practice interventions are grounded in the current best evidence for physical therapy evaluation and treatment techniques. His primary focus is using multiple manual therapy techniques for obtaining functional outcomes.

Since joining the BCR&W team, Jonathan has been instrumental in developing the foot management and orthotic program.

Sheryl Hangar, PT, MS

Sheryl received her BS in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983 and Masters in Community Health Education from Old Dominion University in 1994. She’s been with Bath Community Hospital since the spring of 2003 and provides inpatient and outpatient physical therapy services.

Physical Therapy Assistants:

Jim Brown, PTA

Jim Brown received his BS in Biology in 1987 from Shepherd College in West Virginia and his Physical Therapy Assistant associates degree in 1998 from the College of West Virginia, Beckley, West Virginia. Jim has been a member of the BCH physical therapy department since 2000. He finds his career as a PTA rewarding when he helps people recover from the injuries or illness, returning to a lifestyle at or above their previous level of performance. Jim is a triathlete and enjoys most outdoor activities such as swimming, bicycling, hiking and horseback riding. He is an avid gardener and enjoys reading in his spare time.

Cathy Lowry, PTA

Cathy has experience in long-term, outpatient and inpatient care, as well as home health. She received her B.S. in Sports Medicine in 1998 from Radford University and her Associates degree in 2000 from College of Health Sciences in Roanoke. She’s been employed at Bath Community Hospital since 2008.

She enjoys spending time with three sons Colby, Cameron, Cooper and is involved with coaching youth sports and actively participates in sports.

Millie Williams, Health Care Assistant, Exercise Technician

Millie is a certified health care assistant and is CPR certified and has been a full-time employee since 1982. She assists physical therapists in the care and treatment of patients, monitors wellness clients for correct form and modifying workouts as needed. Millie enjoys working with patients of all skill levels and ages from senior citizens to children. Millie empowers her clients to improve their quality of life and she enjoys seeing them succeed.

 

Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers:

Candice Botkin, CSBT, Exercise Technician

Candace is an exercise technician. As an exercise tech, she demonstrates the correct usage of weight machines, free weights, and other exercise techniques. She received her certification as a stability ball instructor through the American Fitness Professionals and Associates and is currently teaching group exercise classes utilizing stability balls. She also keeps things running smoothly in the BCR&W office and is responsible for opening the center in the mornings.

Michael Colaw

Graduate of Bridgewater College in 08 where he played four years of football and participated in Track. He received a degree in Allied Health Progession Science. Currently working on his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification throught the National Strength and conditioning Association. Hobbies include Cycling , hunting and fishing.

Tim Dunnagan, Exercise Technician

Tim is currently employed at the Bath Co. Sheriffs Office as an Investigator. He works at the Wellness Center part-time. He is currently certified in CPR. He helps clients use the equipment safely and effectively. Tim enjoys cycling and competes in 3 to 4 triathlons a year with the Triple Threat Triahlon team. On his days off, if he is not cycling or cruising on his motorcycle, he is up on the slopes skiing.

Debbie King, Exercise Technician, Support Staff

Debbie is an Exercise Tech at the Wellness Center, opening doors by 5:45am every morning. She makes sure that the gym is up and running smoothly before the first clients arrive at 6:00am. She enjoys helping new clients learn to use the equipment properly and encourages them as they continue to obtain good work out habits.

Debbie also helps out with the daily office work. Some of the duties include scheduling, patients, ensuring that patient charts are pulled and in order for the next day, calling patients to remind them of their appointments, and checking with insurance companies concerning patient benefits for physical therapy.

Debbie enjoys long walks and motorcycle riding with her husband. She is a licensed minister in her church and is active there in counseling and music.

Holly Hicks, Exercise Physiologist

Holly is a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University with BS in Exercise Physiology. She educates clients and patients in safe and effective ways to use exercise equipment along with proper technique when performing free weight exercises. Holly also helps coordinate the fitness program for the Bath County High School students who participate in weight lifting and core stabilization classes at the facility.

Holly is an avid sports fan. She enjoys playing recreational volleyball, softball and is a loyal WVU Mountaineer football fan. She is currently interested in obtaining a health fitness instructor certificate.
